Description

The warm, bubbling water in a hot tub is fun to spend time in, but it can also help increase the benefits of therapy. Time in a hot tub can help you manage conditions from arthritis to anxiety. It can also help to relax your body and brain before bed. Hydrotherapy can gently increase your circulation without raising your body temperature too much.

Sleeping Soundly

If your mind is restless before bed, time in your hot tub can make it easier to fall asleep. You can also sleep more deeply after time in a hot tub. Everything from the temperature to the drone of the motor can encourage relaxation and calmness. Avoid getting too warm or spending too much time in the water. Instead, schedule 15 minutes in the tub right before bed to help you relax and prepare for deep sleep.

Meditation Facilitation

Time in a hot tub is a great treatment for anxiety. Once you’re seated in the hot tub, there’s not much else you can do but enjoy the water. Watching the water can guide you into a relaxed, meditative state. During meditation, the goal is to let your thoughts come and go while focusing on your breath. The motor of the hot tub can give you a sound to focus on as you sink deeper into meditative relaxation. Even two minutes of meditation can help you focus and clear your mind. Meditation can be made easier to achieve since hot tubs facilitate a calm state of mind. Be sure to set a timer so that you don’t fall asleep in the hot tub.

Circulatory Improvement

If you’ve overdone it and are suffering from sore muscles, time in the hot tub can help. If you are unable to move or struggling with tissue damage from diabetes, you can improve circulation in your feet and legs by spending time in the hot tub. Anyone who suffers from any numbness or neuropathy should carefully test the temperature of the water and make sure the thermostat is working properly. The water in a hot tub can get excessively warm and if you can’t feel your extremities, you may suffer burns. Make sure someone tests out the water temperature all the way to the bottom of the tub to confirm that you can safely treat your feet and legs.

It’s important to take care of yourself. Hot tubs are a great way to help you both mentally and physically. Take a soak and watch your worries melt away!
